MRI or Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a diagnostic tool used quite often by Dr Gavin to evaluate soft tissue and bone problems in the foot & ankle. MRI uses radiofrequency energy and a magnetic field to create very detailed images of all bones, muscles, ligaments and tendons in the foot & ankle. By using RF in a magnetic field, patients are not exposed to any radiation. MRI can often be used to identify problems that are otherwise undetectable with xrays, ultrasound, or even CT. It is the single most detailed test available to evaluate soft tissue injuries, inflammation, and masses in the body.
